Is it my imagination or is our C Class performing much better with a fully charged battery. ie 100% full. I bought a Smart Charger specifically designed for AGM Batteries, it has 7 stages to run through to ensure a full Battery. 5 Amps over night once a week.

Sean, I have always had the gut feeling that a car performs better with a good, fully charged battery......mind you, it might just have been my imagination. Bit like cars with a roarty exhaust - they seem more powerful ? Regards Styria

And they are always smoother, quieter and more refined after a good wash and vacuum, I'm sure it is the vacuum that does :D

A fresh and full battery has an effect on modern cars' operations.
My 2001 Magna VR-X developed this problem upon starting.
It would switch off just after starting up; not unlike a cold old carbureted engine.
Very annoying and incomprehensible as it was fuel injected.

After asking many questions of many expert, Dr Terry (of Bebco Automotive fame) told me to buy a new battery.
And that fixed the problem.
Apparently the car needs a full charge to run properly and an old battery was not good enough.

Yes Michel,
I tend to agree with you. Electronics are very sensitive to Voltage. There is so much pressure on Batteries in modern Cars to satisfy all the demands of the many systems.
Of interest is the comment by the local Battery specialist, he said because the AMG Battery went flat at 3 years old it can never be returned to a full 100% charge , perhaps about 85% at best. So once a week top up with the dedicated Charger should keep the pep in the performance.
