Hi... good day. I'm new here. Hello to everybody who reads this...;-)

Just bought a W116 and will be commenting and asking here a lot I guess. I bought a 280S made in Malaysia, imported by the owner from Singapore 1982. The car has had two owners before I got it and was well loved by two old men. White 116 280S with aPierburg carburator made in Neuss in Germany. The city I'm born in. It has 292.000 on the clock and it is a manual. MANUAL!!! It had sat in a shed for 18 month and needed lots of TLC but it came out pretty good. Have given it new leads, rotor, distributorcap and of course new sparkplugs etc. A big clean up and a new stereo...it'll get a tint ( legal 35%/grey ) on monday. It runs like a dream on petrol and lpg. Drivers seat has f#%*ed springs and I m just waiting for a new seat base from a friendly dealer/enthusiast here in Australia. I would need advise where to get the stronger version of the back springs and I also need at some point in the future rubbers for windscreen and rearscreen. But however... I'm back in the game of old nice cars...

The seats breaking down are a standard problem with the W116's, but relatively easy to rebuild by a competent upholster or someone that specialises in these. It takes a few hours plus some new coils but it’s well worth the cost. Also the stitching on the rear seat ends up giving away and new backing is usually called for so the re-stitching has a solid base.

I got Styria and Parks to redo my 450SEL.

You will either have to upload your photos to the Picture gallery here or else load them up to a 3rd party like http://www.photobucket.comand then copy the web address into the box that appears wnem you press the little yellow and grey photo button in the tool bar at the top of the edit screen.
