Curious about the design by MB. Rather than keeping it solid all the way across. They installed those cut outs at each end for air flow I assume?

Had McIntosh installed today. Posted photo in W116 forum. For the cost factor just hooked the two speakers in front with new Alpines. Sounds fantastic.

When I bought my '78 6.9 the original owner had what was then a state of the art Alpine system installed which included two large speakers under the hat rack. The original out of the factory was just two speakers, in front, one at each end of the dash, correct?

Cant seem to attach photo. It's the climate control hose. At the upper end enters into firewall behind dash. At lower end transitions to steel tube which ends with a union down by oil filter.

Agree. After many hours on the job I've settled on the technique of doing small area at a time with degreaser and assortment of brushes. Relatedly, have learned to first check with manufacturers, as some of these "degreasers" at not to be used on aluminum.

Just started the job. Any recommendation for a good and safe degreaser? These DIY videos make it look easy. Just spray on, rinse and you're ready for the Pebble Beach Concourse. Currently using Gunk. Will have to go back in and get it on in combination with brush work.
