    W126 cruise control

Good morning all, has any one had any experience with replacing/locating the cruise control amplifier in a 420SEL? Before taking the interior panels off, is it located above the drivers brake pedal as mentioned in numerous videos (mostly American), or passenger side being right hand drive? My...

    Sphere longevity

Thanks for the accumulator insights. I am just about to replace the spheres on my 420 SEL with the supplied brand being Corteco Germany. I have not heard any quality reports of this German brand, but will provide info when completed in the coming weeks. Anyone familiar with Corteco, good/bad?

    C107's 560SEL

Its remarkable what parts are available internationally. I have purchased parts domestically from Prestige Autoparts in Caringbah & Unique Auto Parts with good results. It would be terrific to know of more local suppliers for the W126 from other members.

A beautiful car Bryce. I have the same car but a 420SEL. Who do you source your front end parts through?

    W126 420SEL front suspension.

Thanks Bryce & Styria. Both cars have 16" wheels, good tyres with correct pressures. They also have rear SLS which operates well with adequate fluid. The firm ride is from the front end definitely & the difference between the 2 cars is noticeable. I had planned to replace the shocks on both...

    W126 420SEL front suspension.

Hi folks, I am hoping for some advice/clarification on 420 SEL front shocks. I have a 1986 420SEL that has a very smooth/comfortable ride. Also a late 1989 420SEL of which the ride is distinctly firmer than the 1986. I plan to change the shocks on the 1986 first but want to identify the...

W126 Interior door trim clip repair. Centre burl trim.

Bit of FYI! I have just had a very frustrating experience with a Victorian Mercedes dealership/service provider that has resulted in more damage to my 420 SEL than when the car went in for a few mechanical repairs. As with many W126, the interior door trim/panels have been previously removed...

    W126 Internal door card clips.

It is incredibly frustrating to have a car in good condition, yet encounter previous attempts at repair that cause damage that could be avoided by being humble enough to ask someone. The removal procedure is indeed quite straightforward when the other interior elements are dismantled. Its quite...

    W126 Internal door card clips.

Thanks for the response Bryce & Styria (& fortunate avoidence of the attacking flywheel). It appears a workshop solution may be required.

    W126 Internal door card clips.

Hi team, any thoughts on sourcing lower front door card to door clips? Of course the usual problem of them previously being removed incorrectly has damaged the mounts. May have to fabricate something myself if not available. Thanks.

    W126 self leveling struts

Thats great to know Bryce, a specialist in the particular industry. I noticed there are 2 places in the US that recondition, but prohibitively expensive. A last resort. The system is actually quite simple & should be able to be repaired by a skilled tradesperson.

    W126 self leveling struts

Hey folks, relating to the SLS struts, I had a conversation with a hydraulic mechanic the other day & he stated that if they were able to be dismantled so the internals can be examined, they can be repaired. They are essential a basic hydraulic ram/component with metric seals etc. His comment...

    C107's 560SEL

Its an outstanding product & is used by professional car detailers. It is extremely gentle on paint unlike other harsh commercial cutting compounds. If a buffer is used with only the weight of the tool, no additional pressure ( I use a cordless Makita ) the results are outstanding. We used to...

    C107's 560SEL

A beautiful car. The best cutting compound for paint restoration is a product called T cut. I used to detail cars (Mercs, Rolls, Lambos, Ferraris, GT's) & T cut original gave by far the best results. No swirls & when using a good quality polish (Nu finish I suggest), the paint shine is...
