Hello TK Members,

Would my 1989 300SE ever had the original fire extinguisher installed?

Thank you.

Hello TK Members,

Thank you.
Possibly/possibly not. They were an option so you would need to decode your data card if you have it.
You can always add a fire extinguisher if you want - the brackets are available to mount to a wall and this way you can install it either to the floor or the sidewall of your boot.
Have a look here at an easy and cheap way to do it - http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/on...afety/fire-extinguishers/safety.aspx?id=90701

Brian

Hello BenzBoy thanks for the reply.

The 300SE came with the Owners Manual and Maintenance Booklet.

At the back page of the Maintenance Booklet there is the Data Card.

From what I can see there is no original mounting bracket so perhaps my car had never had the extinguisher?

Detailed log books from when the car was new.

Good to have the Becker radio code as well.

Will the Data Card tell me if the 300SE has ever had an extinguisher of is the lack of the mounting bracket a dead give away the car has never had an extinguisher fitted?

Days Card text is in German.

Cheers.

Thanks for the Data Card info BenzBoy.

Reading from info it stated the 1987 300D has the fire extinguisher fitted.

Info from the Data Card 68/2 Fire Extinguisher.

Okay the 300D is the W124 E-Class not the S-Class.

Still does not confirm that my car ever had the extinguisher.

They were probably dealer fitted and not on the data cards of many. I wouldn't drive a car without one unless you're happy to see it go up in flames....

It is on the data card for my SLC. Code 682.
Still fitted to the car.

The 87 230TE (similar year) my dad owned from new had it fitted and I doubt he would have paid extra for it, so MB Australia may have specified them.

As best as I know, more than likely most Mercedes models starting with the 107 and the 116 were equipped with Fire Extinguishers as a factory accessory. I don't think I have see them fitted to earlier models, but stand to be corrected on that one.

Not so long ago, I had a trimmer (not Parks) refurbish the front seats of GB (more of that in another thread), but he fitted the retaining bracket upside down. Can't beat specific experience. Regards. Styria
