As soon as I saw that rego a little light went on in my head! When I checked the books, sure enough I was right....

Originally 'owned' by Mercedes Benz Australia (Mulgrave). Serviced by them until 26798km when it was serviced by Lanes in South Melbourne

If you want to save/copy/print/laminate/frame etc, by all means help yourself.

GREAT 116 material.

Thank you for that. :D
I am wondering whether you missed attaching the cadillac test results by mistake since you have uploaded the same test on the W116 Benz twice (at the end of the original post).

I've been trying to find out where the old pic of my car was taken and had a brain wave today to try The Sunbury Historical Society. This might be interesting....

Hi Mark, so how did you go ? Did you ever get the information you wanted ? BTW, there is some enlightening reading of the various press releases and summaries. I like the inference of a 150mp/hour top speed - maybe yes, maybe no. I also like the reference to the Klaxon horn - obviously, there is no such feature. However, there are two additional "country horns" that can be selected by a switch on the switch panel.

I also like the reference to the suspension feature that can allow for more exuberant handling. There is no doubt in my mind that when push comes to shove, the strut that has more pressure put on it when cornering is the one that builds up additional resistance. We haven't heard from our 116 friend in Queensland for a while. He was always an excellent contributor. Regards. Styria

Unfortunately far too busy with all the other cars but there has been action.... News to follow!

I might have a chance later in the week but it's now a low priority.

I wonder where all this finished up in the end ? If for no other reason, I thought that rekindling interest in our Ch. 116 cars by means of the article is a great idea. Pity we don't hear much from Mark these days - I know he sold two of his 6.9s, but there still has to be some sort of follow up story on this other cars.

I do know that, for whatever reason, he has been advertising the 420SEL he bought from me - it had been a great car but the broken chain guide did its job in ruining the left bank of the engine. Regards Styria

As I get older, I seem to have even less time for things! Sorry it's been such a long time; to add to my woes my computer died and it's taken 6 months to recover something that barely works properly. So much for Windows backup...

Facebook seems to have taken over peoples interests (including mine). However I still think there's a place for these forums since they're the best source of information by far.

Sorry about your computer.
Technology these days is sometimes so good that things can be recovered rather easily.

Good luck

Generally yes but in my case no.... A power feedback triggered a host of failures and I probably would've been better to cut my losses & just buy a new one!
