Wanted for W116

I am looking for some bits to help me with the resurrection of Bluey (450SEL).

I am after a decent steering wheel (I need to check whether its small or large spline).
A period radio (I prefer a Becker, as long as it is working) - my 450SEL is a 5/76 compliance with D-Jet

And a decent Grille and emblem (MB Star).
Actually the grille is OK, but the strips aren't, so I am content if anyone would simply have the strips (incl the vertical one).

Michel I might have a radio. I'll have a look soon (xmas prep is the priority at the moment). It'd be hard to find grille strips that aren't damaged. Surely new ones are available cheap?

I'd be nice if someone supplied aftermarket (and Aussie sun resistant) dash pads and steering wheels. There's very few out there that aren't stuffed. Even new ones don't seem up to job and won't last very long. When I get to it, I'll be looking to have my steering wheel/s recovered in leather, along with the dash. Either that, or a nice swede like a Lambo, or Ferrari.

You can get the chrome strips, and clips to hold them on, from Autohaus AZ. Planning to do just that for mine one day.

Might have the strips you need on my donor car. Let me have a look hopefully tomorow, Thursday. (its not here, it's elsewhere). I'm pretty sure the whole grille is in good nic. I'll try and get you a picture.

I have 1 maybe 2 spare steering wheels but they have the "slipping grip" problem. I believe apart from that they are also in decent condition. If your only problem is the 'slipping grip', I posted an article about a specialist who fixes that issue. Check in the suppliers section. Not sure the hole size myself.

I did have a steering wheel that I sold to one of our members, but he maintained that it did not fit on account of the spline size. Hasn't returned it, hasn't paid for it and the scoundrel hangs up when one rings him.

As Mark says, good ones are not easy to come by, so it pays to look after them. Most times, when I put cream on my hands, I work the excess into the steering wheel rim. It does wonders by preserving the dimple effect, and stops it from drying out. I have had my second rim on Gleaming Beauty for the last eight to nine years and it has not deteriorated in any way. I know that doesn't help your cause, Michel, but it is a handy hint for all of us as to how to keep the wheel in good condition. Regards Styria

Dear GODFATHER , if there are no twist on the story , this is criminal act and shouldn't be tolerated , plus it should be punished and BANED from the site , at least not to let other one be victim of his acts. i guess it is one of the duties of the guardian of TOPKLASSE.

That's shocking. You shouldn't stand for that. People should not order things they cannot pay for, and should send things back that they do not need.

I know that if someone didn't pay me for parts the financial hardship it would cause me would result in lost sleep and stress especially trying to raise a young child on a single income, but quite often people don't think about how their actions might affect others.

Maybe you should let him know how his actions have caused you grief and he might do the right thing.

It can't hurt to try.

AT LEAST if you think it is not fitting or not the right part or it is not what you expect it , out of courtesy you MUST SEND BACK - that the least you can do cause the one who send it he means good and want to help find parts not always available around the corner

Funny how things aren't quite as you remember them. Uncovered the donor merc today and took a picture of the grille.
Picture says it all. Let me know if I can help.
Also the 2 spare steering wheels I have both suffer from slippage on the rim. They are however in decent condition otherwise.
