Does anyone know if the US spec vehicles had catalytic convertors fitted? I know both Aussie and US versions had emission equipment and lower compression, but seeing we didn't have CATs, would our versions have (slightly) more power??

As far as I know the US models were the least powerful.

The Euros were the most powerful.

We were somewhere in between :D

From memory, the OZ specced cars had about 270 horses to call on - definitely more than the US versions. I think SEL69L has the correct figure. GB having the high compression engine ran about 286, but not at the back wheel. I believe about a hundred horses bolted before the gate could be shut. Regards Styria

Although....

As you can imagine I have various manuals:

Owners Manual 1 and 2: 8.8:1, 210kW, 286hp, curb weight 1935kg (DIN 70020).

Introduction into Service Manual 1975: 8.8:1, 210kW, 286hp, 550Nm, deadweight (!) 1935kg (DIN 70020),

Introduction into Service Manual 1979 (Aus): 8:1, 198kW, 510Nm, deadweight 1955kg (DIN 70020).

The last one is probably the most correct and although rather disappointing it does also state; Acceleration (load 2 persons) 0-100km/h: 7.4s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D
