A d-jet 350se and it's red so it wouldn't need repainting.:D Bidding's low but there is a reserve. I just haven't got the room ATM.

I know. Even though I'm in woop woop it's still 4.5 hrs away, but so is everything else. Damn this big country.

I've been wanting to taunt the seller with questions but figured it's pointless unless I was serious.

I've been wanting to taunt the seller with questions

I don't think he'd even care if he could answer the questions or not, or their importance.

Worst subject title ever... (actually not the worst ever, I seen "car" or "luxury car")

Worst description ever... well the 2nd attempt is an improvement, but his original just read "v8"...

I can't tell whether its a manual or auto, the engine looks very small to me, etc.

Its got to be worth a $100 bid oscar just for you to lay your hands on the collection of D-jet spares (TB, MPS, Dist, Aux air, ECU, etc.)

I.

Yeah made me laugh too. But it's the kind of ad that may reveal a barnyard sleeper......... or a hunk of junk.

True the spares are worth it but I can't hide it anywhere unfortunately.

Ooh, more photos.
It has sunroof too and the engine goes

It's definitely a 73,4 or 5 d-jet. It's got no a/c, no Becker Mexico to plunder and I bet it needs more than a fuel pump:rolleyes:

But how does this reserve thing work if the proxy bids don't come into play?

Hypothetically, if the highest proxy bid was $50 yet the current winning bid is $5.00, the unknown reserve was $500, bid increments are $5.00 and I came a long and put a $550 bid on what would happen next?

Would the next current winning bid show
-$10.00 reserve not met
-$55.00 reserve not met
-$500 reserve met

Any ideas? I've often wondered whether a proxy bid higher then the reserve isn't put forward if a raly of bids doesn't get that high. That make sense?

Just say the reserve is $500, if any bidder bids the reserve or above then the high bid becomes the reserve.

Scenario 1: Reserve is $500 and 1 and only 1 bidder bids $750, it will sell for $500

Scenario 2: all bids are way under the reserve (say reserve is $500) and the bids are $50-$100... a bid at $750 will buy it for $500, but a bid for $499 will not sell it to anyone.

I noticed that. Plus weird mix having a sunroof and manual windows. There wasn't a manual sunroof option was there?

It's got SLS but me thinks that with a few struts on hand and a bit of reengineering one could throw SLS struts on each wheel with 4 levelling valves, one on each wheel too. The result, no lean whatsoever. Might need four hydro pumps too.

Going by the scribble on the roof it must be at a wreckers or garage,
so no doubt they do know what is and isnt wrong with it,

what you get told may be a comletely different story.

You bet there was, it had a chrome pull down handle type arrangement that you had to wind in and out.

I have a pictures, I'll find it.

I'll be stuffed! I didn't know this. I just always assumed they were electric. What about pre w116 like those w111/12 coupes for example. Don't know if they're generally electric or manual but I suppose it was a matter of choice and buyers budget rather than a specific date that determined whether they were electric or not.

Most early 350's I've seen are just like mine, a/c and SLS were just about the only luxuries opted for. Oh and an A/T too I suppose, which is a shame.

Unsure of other earlier cars, I know all W123 estate cars have manual sunroofs because there is no space in the back for the motor, I would assume they did have it as an option, see this Mercedes 170 with a sliding sunroof, (very rare option) It is the same setup

Now that's a coupe:D

Oh well, I suppose it wouldn't be too much of a shock if it was a manual sunroof considering it's lack of other appointments. At least the thing can open and close. Whether it took much force is another matter. (the 350 I mean)

Just looking again at this car and it seems very original. Might have been a country car and rust free too. Got one of those metal radiator expansion tanks and note that cushion under the armrest.

Hi Ossie, so tempting to collect cars and then find out that you don't really need them. This one, however, makes a bit of sense as the interior would fit nicely into one of Michel's cars.

I'm also with Michel distance wise - Narromine - situated somewhere in God's own country. Just too much of a hassle...and then I would have to find space for it ! Regards Styria

Yes it is and I've done it twice too many times. Given a couple of acres in the sticks there wouldn't be a problem.

My biggest obstacle now is that Nat discovered my bid. Damn!
