I turned down a fully restored one some years ago that was available at $125,000. Prices are certainly getting up there for 280SE 3.5's, but he is never going to get that price for it. I would think the top price would be $200,000 and if you look closely at the car, it is not even worth that.
Michel has got it right - it's worth what someone is prepared to pay for it. Me - I'd certainly walk straight past it at that price - or anything over $120K. - nay, not even at that price. I have a specific question that I would ask of Helmet - you have your excellent 220 Coupe - forgetting fixed head versus convertible, which model would you prefer to own and how much do you think you'd like to pay for this Convertible advertised ? This is a really nice looking car - how do you think it compares with yours ? These are all well meaning questions - no malice or trickery intended. Regards Styria

I recently sold its brother in a hardtop version for over 100K. Given the rarity of the convertible for I would estimate its retail value being in the order of 200-250K.
In answer to your question, I would have to see it in the flesh to make a comparison to my 220SE and yes the convertible would be my choice if I had the money
