Ok ok, its not a W116 or a R107 but the W123 in this show put up a sterling effort, and its well worth watching how it holds up. It comprises of six 10 minute parts. I can see why s class trusty rusty is the way he is now having to contend with conditions like this before restoration.

THanks for that link. I enjoyed the videos.

By the way, all three of those cars have Gauteng registrations (Gauteng is the vicinity around Johannesburg, South Africa). So I don't think they actually bought the cars on the Zimbabwe border.

Our roads aren't really as bad as all that - but the views of the tarred roads look very similar to what I see here all the time.

As to trusty rusty, the previous owner admitted that he did once drive it across Botswana up to Zambia and back. That must have been an adventure.
