This subject matter has come up from time to time, with particular emphasis on price (obviously), quality of the product and the scope and reliability of 'after supply' service by the manufacturer, namely GAHH in California.

We have conducted business with that organization for probably eight years now, and its reputation as far as quality of product is concerned is beyond reproach. Sure, from time to time and if one is super fussy, some aspects can be faulted - particularly for carpets where they are supplying to the right hand drive market. 190SL's (1959) come to mind as they have quite complex shapes around the gearbox tunnel area and we have had to modify certain sections and re-bind them. As I said, one needs to be super fussy.

Now, GAHH may not always be the cheapest supplier, but their pricing structure is on a par with some of the better known suppliers, such as World Upholstery etc. As far as we know, they use only quality hides from European countries, and certainly not from Thailand or China - to the best of our knowledge. We spoke at length to an American restoration source just recently, and canvassed, among other things, their opinion on GAHH. Their verdict ? First class organization, after sales service 'Topklasse' (1). Couldn't help myself.

We have at all times offered a genuine 15% discount from GAHH's catalogued retail price, and pricing can be ascertained from their website. Obviously, if one is engaged in the business of upholstery and motor trimming, you buy at trade discounts - simple, but it certainly does not make one " a middle man" that is so to speak "ripping off" the customer as has been suggested elsewhere.

Sure enough, if " a price as cheap as possible" is one's only motivating factor, we can accomodate that request - we have cheaper sources at our disposal that can be utilized. Thus, it is always the customer's choice and we follow their instructions. Regards, Styria
