Rather nice 280SE

Shannons currently have a rather nice 280SE for auction. It sat for a long time in their Park & Sell section at $10,000 but is now going to auction without reserve. Only real issue I can see is the passenger side front guard has been repainted and is a slightly different shade of white. Hi Motec 6.9, I've noticed your edited version in regards to this 280SE for sale at Shannons. I don't know what drives the market forces and the expected price ranges advocated by the Auction House. You were talking about that Milan Brown 6.9 which had been in immaculate condition during the time that I had any experience with it, yet it sold for half of the expected range and about the same money as a Fiat 500. Here again we have the situation of 'another' Fiat being advocated for similar money, and I just don't see the correlation in funding between the Benz and the Fiat - and I am not even mentioning the Morris Cooper 'S'. I just don't get it. Is "cute" worth that much money ? Well, it may not even be cute !

Regarding the Benz itself - BenzBoy, you have obviously inspected the car as you refer to cracks in the dash - refurbishment and replacement alone are a $1K. exercise. Also, if one has a look at the door trim (I think !), it would appear as if the foam padding is in need of replacement. Other than that, it is quite clear that MB - Tex does look so much better to the eye than worn leather. Also, the car has no timber embellishments in the right places. Regards Styria
