We'll I don't really know what forum to turn to on the internet other than this one, so please be nice.
I don't know much about cars. I don't really know anything about cars. But I very very much want to learn, all about the engine and technical/mechanical aspects.

I'd very much like to do this via restoration of an old car, so that I could learn, do, and have something to show for my efforts. I had something like an old '68 GT Mustang in mind. Is there a step by step guide for I don't even know where to start. If someone could help me out, I'd be greatly greatly appreciative.

N.B. Some information will be provided for you in due course.

Obviously someone didn't read what this forum is all about, or it isn't as obvious as it should be....

This guy is obviously a crackpot!

Don't bother locking threads Mr Moderator.

Just delete him... Or point him to the closest Home Depot in the US.

Could you explain or elaborate ?
A Dalek is a fictional sentient robot that runs around all over space in Dr Who crying out "ELIMINATE - ELIMINATE - ELIMINATE" and blasting all and sundry in its sites.
What we need here is a dalek to exterminate these threads. Along with Michel I vote that the Moderator simply remove them from our house. Oh, unless we intend to have it painted using the brush and shovel method? :D
Regards,
Brian

Tines should be at least 4" long if you want to rid your fields of capeweed... ;)

Capeweed? Shucks - I haven't seen capeweed for years; seen none since I left the deep south-west of NSW and moved to the big smoke. Just one of life's little joys - digging up capeweed in the blazing sun. ;)

I hear where everyone of my worthy confreres is coming from, and obviously I take all opinions on board. To me, it is of importance to be fair and tolerant, if at all possible. As you have noticed, I have locked two of the posts in an effort to minimize the possibility of the situation getting out of hand with too many avenues open to the poster if he is in fact a spammer.

Also, a reference to MBZ Spares in the States has been deleted, thereby further minimizing untoward actions on TK. It should be noted that the poster joined in April, submitted a post in the early part of May (4th ?) and now, of course, three further posts in quick succession over a period of some six minutes. Careful Attention has been paid to the way the poster uses the English language - it would seem to indicate that there may perhaps be some shortcomings. So who knows what ? I mean Stalin couldn't write, yet look at his ....well, whatever ! Anyway, as you all know, defensive action can be carried out at the press of buttons, should the poster really become untolerable. So, as a matter of courtesy, and fair play, I ask you to support my action in allowing the poster to respond in a positive manner, and to let matters run their course.

Johndd, if you want to learn and teach yourself how to restore old cars, it will be a lengthy process - it will take years, and as far as I am concerned, it is best to engage the services of knowledgeable tradespeople. First of all, selection of car and the price you pay are the most important aspects. You then have to assess the condition of the car both body wise, interior wise, and its mechanical condition.

Once you have found your car, by all means get back to us and we will endeavour to guide you along. Regards, Styria
