View front the cluster opening to a 'hidden' bolt that secures the dash:

IMG_2994_zpskm6koqq8.jpg

This plastic trim was a bugger to remove till I had the dash out and realized it was just secured by a clip!

I wanted to save the front clip but it was bent from prior collision damage:

Lucky I don't have to put this one back together!

IMG_3011_zps1bynagci.jpg

This was a bugger to remove even with the front screen removed! You have to rotate it up from the front but the pillars lean inwards and the more you pull the tighter is gets! Must've been easier when they were new and bendy!

IMG_3012_zpsxdotu5z8.jpg

Why some front guards are so hard to remove! I think this car had been damaged before and the repairer went nuts with body deadener in the wheel arch! This makes removal impossible without damage. I'd suggest you use a bead blaster along the inner seam if you wish to save anything!

The other side was easy:

Next to the fusebox:

Wheel arch under the fuse box (note grommets):

IMG_3018_zpswdjinows.jpg

Steel bracket under the dash preventing access to the fusebox nuts:

Bottom of the bracket above the accelerator pedal:

In this pic you can just see one of 5 nuts to be removed:

Fusebox out after some serious wire cutting! If you had to save the loom it'd be a nightmare:

Rust created by a partially blocked hole:

As it is now:

CIMG8383_zpslnbty2k7.jpg

Removed as a donor for others. I thought I'd be smart and cut it as one section (like new cars are built today), but they're much smaller! I'll probably have to cut it further since it's too heavy to move by myself. Doors are great.

Pity it should have been the King(450SEL 6.9) not the Jester(300SD).

Well ladies and gents today marks a big day for me... Lantern has left the building never to return. I cut off what I needed and she's just left for scrap, along with a few other bits n pieces. Photos to follow.

Turn around on the next one won't be as long as it's a W126 with almost no cutting necessary!
