Rightly or wrongly, I have my reservations (possibly unfounded) about the Volkswagen product. What one reads and hears from time to time, it does make you wary, and you hear of recalls, etc. etc. Nevertheless, the Golf has been an unbridled success for many years, and this latest hot hatch certainly seems to deliver the goods.
