My jag has been having some work done on its brakes amongst other things, so I was at the workshop the other day picking it up.

Anyway, they were doing a couple of neat installations of electric aircon to some E-Types which was quite a neat solution for early E-Type that lack the room for A/C and also the engines don't respond to it very well.

The compressor hides inside the old heater box.

I thought it was quite a neat solution and for some classics, a better one than conventional A/C, if you have the budget. Of course, they also fit a much bigger alternator and if room allows a larger battery.

This sounds interesting.
I wonder if it it unique to the Jags or whether it can be adapted to any old car?

I've seen these units used in pre-war cars with great success - they can be used in any car that runs 12 volts and has room to install a larger capacity alternator.

As Brian says they can be fitted to any car that can be upgraded to provide the power for the unit.

A nice side benefit is that unlike a normal compressor that needs to spin up before you get cold air, the electric A/C is cold from the get-go.
