Christmas holidays bring some long-awaited spare time to dismantle the parts 450SEL that has been sitting in my front yard for about a year now. Quick overview:
Magnetite blue (I think) exterior - lovely colour
Blue velour insides
360,000km
Ran a year ago when parked, but smokey
This is a parts car for a reason - it is smokey, paint faded, a few rust spots (but fairly minor) - it is worn out.
I am pulling it apart and keeping the bits that I think could be useful to the 6.9 herd, mainly:
Bumpers, lights and exterior trim
Interior
Window mechanisms
SLS for hydro spares
Wheels (regular 14" Bundts)
Few other mechanical bits - stuff like window washer system
Maybe: brakes, alternator (depends if I can be bothered and subject to confirmation of 6.9 compatability)
I may hang on to other bits as I pull them off (and think to myself - oh yeah, that could be useful), but no plans at the moment.
So, if you want anything off the car, let me know.
Major bits left are all body panels, engine, trans, drivetrain, glass. More or less a running shell I suppose (perhaps less a few bits like the battery tray). Even if you want stuff on the keep list above, I'm not that attached to it all, especially as I have to find a home for it all.
Save postage, most of the stuff can generally be had for FREE!!!
The car is in Canberra, so pickup is preferred, or if you shout me postage I can mail smaller bits. Whatever is not claimed or hoarded by me is going to the scrap people, so do your bit for 116 preservation and call now!
