WEll the Yanks were right all along, Bigger is best. Drove the Impreza based SUV today, 2lt Engine with a Sports Mode button, all Revs, no Torque, My torque 2.5 Lt Forrester is a much superior Vehicle for just a few $$s more. A tight squeese in our Garage prompted the road test check out.
We wiil cope with that ...... In the USA the Impreza has a 2.5 lt. choice. It needs it ...
We are now happy with our new Subarus. Forrester Basic & Imoreza mid range.
What a relief when the Mercedes total refund appared in out online Bank !!!

Simple Boost for my Forrester.... Fitted a less restrictive Air Cleaner Element, and increased the tire pressures by 4 PSI... Better throttle response, .and better turn in from front tires.
Most Vehicles are set up for neutral handling. no understear or over steer. Higher pressues on front tires helps. Worked well on my restored MGA 1500 & 1955 2.5 Riley & 107 280 SL
Checked the Filter Element on the hot rod Subaru WRX , it is the same .. very tight restrictive Weave but the Turbo pushes the Air through.
Euro Spec Petrol ? I'm not holding my breath !

Advice ! still chasing better performance via a Hot Dog free flow muffler. ?... Do they still work on todays strickly controled ECUs etc ? In the seventies I bought a new 240 Z Datsan which was sluggish even in manual form. A cam griend just moved the Torque to a higher rev range.
Then I fitted a Hot Dog rear Muffler ... a result .. it was like letting the hand brake off the last couple of notches. Road holding at speed was cured with wider wheels and a front Air Dam.
Then a drive from Brisbane to Melbourne was in a reformed Car. No speed restrictions back then just as long as one was sensible..... Who me then in forty something ??

Always try to stay in the 21st centuary..... to understand modern technology.
E .G., Exhaust is a matched system for the cleaning running of an ICE. Don't alter. This morning on a warm day the Forrester is feeling sprightly. I am putting this down to the ECU, has learned about the extra Air being passed through, by a less restrictive Air cleaner element, and is now adjusting for more fuel, via the injecter timing opening length. ???
