Thanks for that Styria.
The CLS500 is what I was going to buy the weekend my wife and I were cleaned up in our little Porsche- the brochure and price list was on the coffee table when we got home and my wife suggested (well demanded really) that she wanted me to buy an ML and not a CLS.
I still had my 211 E320 (same chassis as a CLS350 with a slower steering rack) and apart from a number of software problems trhat were all fixed under warranty by multiple trips to the agents this and the open road handling (it would wander a bit when the speed got up) made me a little uneasy about long term ownership.
A week later I sold it and the expected CLS500 became an ML500 and I have never regretted it for a moment - nor the $50,000 + price difference.
The big difference to me is 4wd on a rainy day and stability at speed - neither of which my E320 had and I suspect might be an issue with a CLS as well after the first 20,000km are over.
It's nice to hear that they are reliable because this ML 500 looks like it is going to be with me for qute a while yet.
