Alloy bonnet and boot lid w116 300sd

Hi i know its a long shoot but does anybody know were it might be possible to purchase a alloy bonnet and boot lid from in oz from a w116 300sd because about 2 years ago i tried on ebay from usa and after arrival it was un-salavable and had to be taken to scap yard once bitten twice shy but still holding hope to find units that can be used ps if i paid what i did to bring in last lot i will be on the street if they can not be used

I don't beleive there are any lying around, but I could be wrong...

However, to import one, you need to work with a reputable importer who would locate and package the 'delicate' bonnet.

I used to import lots of US cars and parts into Sydney (in another life) and still know a few guys who are reputable and would take care of an item as such (if advised and warned).

Hi Motec6.9, lucky for me, I am not taking on nearly as much as what you are at the moment. Firstly, the "baby thing" - congrats to both of you, and hope that all goes well. I've been through all of that just on sixty years ago. Then the bonnet and boot lid - as Michel says, highly unlikely you'll find something locally. Besides, whilst I appreciate that any weight saving is a good saving, I very much doubt the ultimate benefit to be gained once you look at a 'hot' 6.9.

But still, I wish you good luck. Regards Styria BTW, Michel's take on the situation is well worth investigating and I know that if he can assist, he would only be too willing to do so.

Never knew that Motec. Did all the 300SD's have Alloy bonnet / boot lid??

If you're going for a 1/4 mile run, every bit of weight counts.

Plus if you're adding a baby seat to the back of the car - you need to off-set it by lightening it somewhere else.
