Hi Brian you may want to close your eye's this started as a Thrupp & Maberly 1930 Rolls Royce 20/25 Coupe. It was then hot rodded with a Dodge Viper V10 . Mind you they have stayed with the Vipers 6 Speed Manual so maybe you do approve .

Bit of a disappointment with the final look.
I would have expected different wheels and tyres at least

Why does that make me feel like it was a pointless exercise?

Would have been better with anonymous rocker covers and exhaust pipework hidden.
I guess that it was just impossible to hide the exhaust pipework with the Vee engine sitting on the chassis rails.
Actually, I rather like it, although with body restoration, is now part only Thrupp & Maberley.
It may have rather interesting handling in the wet!

If you saw a stripped 20/25 or 40/50 chassis you would be stunned by the design and manufacturing expertise that went into ensuring everything was made to the highest design parameters. The chassis has built in torsional flex to allow the rear wheels to track accurately in a corner and maintain the optimum camber for each rear wheel. At each torsion point the fuel lines have built in springing to ensure they can flex and not crack. The whole thing is a mathematical jigsaw puzzle that is includes the weight and centre of gravity of the engine - and worked out by SHR himself. To change the motor is to change the dynamics and on that count alone the whole exercise can only be called a bastard child of unloving parentage.
If you want to understand the technical stuff come to All British Day and we will be able to demonstrate exactly what is involved in such a chassis/engine combination. It will be the only such demonstration since the 1930s and is not likely to be repeated.
Regards,
Brian
