    Camshafts

Really good article about Jaguar V12 cams and how the author produced road cams with shorter duration for much better acceleration at the expense of top end performance but found them hard to sell as people want the bragging rights of peak hp they never used, especially as the stock redline of...

    W116 Convertible

I would be curious how he was able to strengthen it properly to keep the structural rigidity.

Fuel For Post July 1976 116 models

I would not use E10 in a classic. The ethanol plays havoc on all the fuel hoses, diaphrams etc. It also promotes rust in the fuel system. We are incredibly lucky that we can still buy proper petrol in 95 and 98, in some places you cannot and you can read about all the problems it causes for...

    6.9 cold start issue

Yeah i think these K-jet cars are happier running slightly richer than a modern car would. Nice result.

    6.9 cold start issue

I would test the fuel pressures. a gauge set is not all that expensive off ebay (at least it wasn't a few years ago) and the various fuel pressure readings normally quickly point to issues. It will show you if the accumulator is functioning properly.

    6.3 #2723

Still no dice. today I removed three spark plugs to inspect the inside of the engine. while I think this is highly unlikely, as the engine ran well 18 months ago its an easy thing to rule out. all three I looked at looked good, then I had to go and pick up the kids from cubs.

The battery is brand new, but before I tow it, I'll use a jump pack too and see if that makes a difference.

    6.3 #2723

I’m now back from overseas and finished with the 123 event so thought I would have another go with the 6.3. Instead of worrying about where the ground strap went, I got a jump cable and ran it from the negative battery terminal to the drivers side engine mount arm as it’s quite accessible. The...

    6.3 #2723

had a go with the brake pedal pressed and no dice, so will put the car up in the air and inspect the connections to the starter, but probably won't be able to get back to work on the car for a month as I have the W123 event and then a work trip. Stay tuned!

Aaah thanks for the tip on the starter. I'll try that. You did mention the cold start. I hadn't tried that yet as I wanted the engine to crank a bit and circulate oil around since its been a while since it was run.
