Turns out the aux fan is dead. The relay clicks, but the fan does not come on even when the relay is bypassed. So new fan on order. I am about to take the car on a trip to Brisbane and back, which will be my first big trip in the car.

Was probably my father driving the car I now own, as I didn't buy it from him until 2012. He lived in Mosman at the time and so being in Brookvale would have been likely - he used to go to Terrey Hills quite a lot. At that time he was using it quite a lot as his health issues that caused him...
