Speed & load rating, plus unique size. Of course you could replace the wheels with a larger diameter & more tyre choices. This option is likely to be cheaper too. Wider tyres will perform better if you stick with a quality brand. However the originality of the car will be affected, which will...

The 215/70R14 Michelins are now $850ea. 😬😱 Apparently made specifically for the 6.9

    Continental tyres

And in other tyre news…. Strange Continental are laying off so many since I’ve noticed far more of their tyres are being fitted to lots of new cars. Even my Territory has them fitted. Golf ball tech is an interesting development!

Oh it seems the Porsche has a hybrid suspension system with light duty airbags & electro hydraulics!

Hi Styria yes Goldeneye has a full set of books. The price was far too good to ignore. Rome wasn’t built in a day, so I expect it will take at least a few years to finish. The other 2 cars aren’t complete either, but Dora isn’t too far off being used as a weekend warrior. Midnight Express is...

Sounds like some models of the new Porsche Panamera have active hydro which is apparently quite an experience!! ♥️

Oh your old 420 was stripped of the interior & other smaller items I needed before being sent to the wreckers unfortunately. Sad, but it provided parts for Midnight Express which is a 220kW 560SEL in black/black, so the sacrifice was worth the effort. I would normally save the doors, but in that...

    Goldeneye (5694)

My main issues have been far too many projects & getting way too far ahead of myself so I couldn’t focus on actual progress. I will keep plugging along to get this one operational then if things go to plan I’ll have some serious bucks to throw at it & get it to a condition that I’ll enjoy. If I...

Next step is a high pressure flush then oil & filter change. Then check the fuel system/flush & new filters. Once running I can add a cooling system cleaner, flush again then add coolant. Whew

Good news it appears the engine isn’t seized. A new battery & earth cable might solve the no cranking or it could be the starter has issues. I’m in the process of flushing the coolant, to avoid the problems experienced with Red Bull…

It’s amazing how stiff the w116 chassis is compared to other vehicles. Here I jacked up the drivers rear corner & it lifted up the left rear & right front so it was rocking bw the right rear (jack point) & left front wheel! Try doing that on a Ford or Holden & all other wheels would still be on...

    Fangio and the 6.9

Haha, no the dream still lives, despite the cars that were sold in 2023. Refer to my thread on Goldeneye… Plus I still have 2 x 220kW 560SELs

    Replacement Wheels & Cleaning

Chrome plating wheels is also an issue and many testers will not approve a RWC with them fitted. Same goes for stainless d shackles for trailer safety chains. They look great but with chromium added to the steel it can make them brittle so they’re unsuitable for heavy duty applications

235 is still ok on a 6.5” rim however the rolling diameter is too small at 638mm vs the std 658mm (more than 15mm). So it seems the only choice is 215 or 225

Personally I’d prefer a higher speed rating than load rating, since you’re never likely to exceed the load. Honestly, unless your tyre blows due to exceeding speed or load, then I’d challenge any denied insurance claim.

FYI going by the GVM (not the placard) the minimum load rating is 91 & the speed rating based on a 260kmh top speed is W or Y. In practical terms a speed rating of S (180kmh) is more than enough however your insurance may disagree
